There are many advantages of living in the country. Sometimes, people become so caught up on thinking about them that they do not take into consider the disadvantages.

Longer response time from rescue services

In the country, the police and fire departments and ambulance services can be miles away. If there was an emergency, their response time would be considerably longer. This could be devastating for someone who had a heart attack or a house fire.

Also, after bad weather such as hurricanes or tornados, victims who lived in the country would have to be able to care for themselves for a longer period of time.

Pharmacies, malls, clothing and grocery stores

A lot of people who live in the country drive to the city weekly or monthly to fill their prescriptions, buy clothing or grocery shop. The pharmacies and the stores are too far away to make multiple trips to pick up a few things at a time. They make sure they have what they need until the next trip.

Schools

There might be one elementary and one high school for the entire county where you live. Private schools would be so far away that it would not be an option.
