If you're thinking about living and playing in this serene and beautiful corner of the world, we hope you find some of the information below helpful. Please feel free to call us with questions you may have about any aspect of life in the Greater River Valley.

The Driftless Area

This hilly part of Southwest Wisconsin is known as the "Driftless Area," because the glaciers of the last two Ice Ages left it untouched as they ground their way southward, flattening and reshaping the surrounding landscape.

The Lower Wisconsin Riverway

The Lower Wisconsin River has no rapids or falls, and descends slowly through an ancient, wide valley on its way to the Mississippi. It is a river for people who like leisurely travel.

Spring Green's Heritage

Although its agricultural heritage is evident, Spring Green has become a haven for the arts, anchored by the American Players Theatre, and Taliesin, home of architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Local galleries and arts events abound.

Welcome to Richland Center

Situated in the middle of Southwest Wisconsin's dramatic Driftless Area, Richland Center in many ways epitomizes small-town mid-America. Few such towns, however, are graced with such distinctive natural beauty.

Education

The Spring Green, Richland Center and Muscoda areas are served by several fine school districts.

Flora and Fauna

The diversity of habitats along the Lower Wisconsin Riverway and throughout the Driftless Area supports at least 34 species of plants that are found nowhere else in the state, as well as 45 species of mammals and 285 species of birds, including 23 species of waterfowl.

Hunting and Fishing

Sportsmen and women will delight at the Lower Wisconsin River, which offers up smallmouth bass, walleye and more, and remains seriously underfished. Area trout streams abound. Abundant whitetails, wild turkeys, and waterfowl offer plentiful hunting opportunities.
